What happens if NestVault shuts down?

Last reviewed: July 6, 2026

A fair question to ask any company holding your family’s records, so here’s our commitment and the current gaps, stated plainly.

The commitment

In any wind-down scenario, members get at least 90 days’ notice — time to sign in, retrieve what you need, and move on with your data.

The honest gap

NestVault does not yet have a one-click “export everything” button. Today, getting data out means viewing entries and downloading attached documents individually. That’s a real limitation, and until an export tool exists, the safest practice is the one we state on our own landing page: keep offline copies of anything truly critical — the recovery code in the fireproof box, key documents also on paper or a drive you control.

What a shutdown wouldn’t change

Your data’s privacy. Everything we store is ciphertext readable only with your keys — that’s true while we operate and true of any backup or server that outlived us. A shutdown could cost you the service; it could not expose your secrets.

And to be clear about the present: NestVault is operating and building. This page exists because you deserve the answer before you trust us, not because the question is live.

Still stuck? The contact page answers the five most common questions and has our email — a real person reads every message.
