Short version: fix the card and you’re back — nothing is deleted over a payment hiccup.
When a renewal charge fails, your subscription is marked past due. While your subscription isn’t active, opening your vault redirects you to the plans page instead of the dashboard — that’s the paywall doing its job, not your data going anywhere. Your vault stays encrypted and stored the whole time.
Once payment goes through, access resumes immediately — same vault, same data, nothing to set up again.
A failed payment is not a cancellation. The 90-day retention clock — the one that ends in permanent deletion — starts at cancellation or non-renewal, and we send a reminder before anything is deleted. If your card failed while you were on vacation, you have not lost your vault.
